I agree that burning it in VP as a Movie is the choice to make.

Would that I was offered that choice.

That is why I came to you for support.

We are back to the original question: "Why doesn't VideoPad Video Editor create a DVD movie on Disc from this ISO?" Does it for you?

As in the earlier test, an extract of three minutes from the ISO burned normally as a Movie File, using the VP 32-bit release. It played fine in MPC-BE.

The entire source file is too big for a standard DVD burn from Videopad though the overburning option was not tested.

So, ... this is the problem. The movie I want to burn is too long for VP. In other words, your software doesn't work. It is only a toy.

Well, ... VP edits the file quite happily. See for yourself:

Titanic.mts File 1, Titanic.mts File 2, Titanic.mts File 3

Fortunately, VP edits files very quickly. You should be ready to burn the movie in little more than ½-an-hour. VP handles everything for me up to actually burning the disc. The only way to find out if this problem is related to my hardware is to check it out on other hardware. I'd appreciate it if you would do that. If it does not work for you either then your Software Engineer has a bit of explaining to do.

VP is burning correctly. The disk has a 4.7GB capacity, your ISO is 6.1GB. Re-encoding at a lower resolution/bitrate might help.

Or splitting the source file.

Or in VP, trim the source file into several parts or different sequences, each to be burned to a separate disk.

This utility is worth investigating.

As for your three linked videos, checked on two PCs...

The disc to which I try burning Titanic from MTS using VP is DVD+R DL which is 8.5GB and 8x.

That should be adequate for burning the ISO but I am not talking about burning the ISO I am talking about burning the movie using VP working from the three individual MTS files to which I sent you download links. Each of those files plays for me using MPC-HC.

Let's get this straight (so that we are both on the same page):

1. Have you downloaded the three MTS files?

2. Can you play those individual videos?

3. Can you load all three (in sequence) into VP?

4. Can you chop the ads out of the videos?

5. Do you have a dual-layer (8.5 GB) disc?

6. Does VP burn your edited video to the disc?

Please answer each of those questions in sequence. Then we will know that we are talking about the same issue.

If you think that's a lot of work, I have gone through this process three times while we have been working on this problem. While I DO appreciate your patience and effort in resolving this problem I must point out that I am still unable to burn this movie to a disc. My being able to do that is becoming something of an obsession (not to mention a PITA)!

6 - Excerpts have burned successfully. So a larger file should as well, as long as the disk has the capacity to fit the content. (Check out DVD Shrink)

Use the Videopad 64-bit version.

Here for a short time is the 480 resolution, edited three-hour version. It likely will fit an 8.5GB DVD.

If not, or a higher res is mandatory, consider a video export to a USB thumb drive. Some TVs, like the Samsung here, can handle those drives.

I didn't suddenly die, Borate, I just went down another path to solve the problem.

It appears that the writing problem I had goes back to MAGIX Video Pro X16. VPX16 simply does not like MTS files. It appears that there is something in the header of the file with stalls any printing operation. I had a lot of discussion with MAGIX themselves and, since they gave up on the subject in mid July we can assume that they have decided it should be in the "too hard" basket and I am left to fend for myself. So much for MAGIX support.

My workaround is to download Avidemux from SourceForge. Load the MTS file into Avidemux and then, without further processing, save it to your working folder. Check out the instructions on this webpage. This, I am told, simply changes the header of the MTS file without changing the video code. You get an MP4 without loss of resolution which usually accompanies Video Conversion. Now you just complete your VPX16 editing of the MP4 files and you can burn to disc without any problem.
