File Types - Problem

hello,

i am brand new and express scribe works great, BUT: i don't have the chance to select other than 5 fyles tipes in the options. i can copy and paste from the folder where the files are located but want to sync them.

in "File Types" in can only choose between codecs, but not add further file types like shon in the tutorial.

so many views and no hint for me? maybe this helps to understand my problem:

I've searched the menus and the help file... And, the closest I can come is the following menu progress:

SCRIBE-->PREFERENCES-->Select INCOMING tab--->Click ADD--->Select File Copy

...and once there... on the bottom right is a list of only four or five file types like:

dct

wav

mp3

aif

which can be checked. There is no option to check -- or add -- any other file type

So... How do I load or sync files into Express Scribe???

You can load other file types manually by using File -> "Load Dictation File(s)", or dragging and dropping into the Scribe dictation list. Automatic incoming does not work for file types other than those listed above.

Feature 3 shows me that i can add other file formats.

becuase i have about 20 to 40 files each day, the sync-feature would be fantastic. if i drag and drop and do not have an automatic deletion of already written files, i always have to check twice, which file ist already done and which one is new.

is there any other solution?

Sorry, that tutorial is out of date - that feature has been deprecated. However, it wouldn't have helped with automatic incoming. All it did was associate file types with Express Scribe so that when you double-clicked on them in Windows Explorer, they would open in Scribe. See the release notes for v4.35 for details of how to change file associations in Windows.

Your best bet is to use Help -> "Send Improvement Suggestion or Feedback" to formally request the ability to select more file types for automatic incoming. The more people request the change, the more likely it will be implemented.
