A zip file is a squashed file so its smaller to upload/download. When you receive it you have to 'unsquash' it by double clicking it and saving to a folder, any folder, or your desktop, just somewhere you can find it. Once its unsquashed, you should be able to open it with Express Scribe - ES won't open a zip file, it wants the unsquashed version of the file.
It should work, if not, you may have to right click the unsquashed file and uncheck 'protected file' at the bottom, that sometimes stops it from loading.
