When I try to make a copy of my music CD's it gets to the last few files that it is extracting and thats when things get very slow....and when I try to go surf the net because this is taking so long my computer won't even launch to the net. Things sort of freeze up.
You should check to see how many programs are running in the background on your PC. Shut off all programs that you are not actually using or require for daily use. When yoy download a program, it almost always installs itself into your task bar and runs in the background. Just about all PCs also come preloaded with tons of junk programs that you will never use and many of those also run in the background. Use a good quality antivirus program like Norton 360 (yes, it costs money but you get what you pay for, nothing is really free in this world) to clear out all the spyware, tracking cookies and assorted junk we all pick up every time we surf the internet. Defragment your hard drive and run disc cleanup.
If you do all that and still have a problem, you probably need more RAM. Your computer is using all its available resources to manage the rip & burn process and has none left over to surf the net. When you do try, it just surrenders!
RAM is not expensive any more and most people who can handle a screwdriver can install a RAM update themselves. You can get specific instructions on how to do it on th enet...obviously not while burning a CD in your case.
Good luck
