We've been using Express Scribe since version 2 and this is a problem we've only encountered with version 4. No matter what file format, Express Scribe will not play the file to the very end. The longer the file, the longer the section clipped. We are using XP SP2, a Pentium 4 and a Celeron M, 2 gigs of memory, Sound Blaster audio cards. We do legal transcription and the length of our files run anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, with the shorter files not losing anything.
Although the same audio files can be played to completion in WMP and other media players, so that we can finish our work, this is a real hassle, since these do not support foot pedal controls. I've tried changing every conceivable setting in Express Scribe, but nothing has worked to solve the problem.
If anyone else has encountered this problem and resolved it, please let me know.
