Writing to disk error

Hi, I am having problems when I try to burn a mpeg file onto a DVD.

After the conversion process, EB begins to write to the disk then I get an error message 'Writing Error - sense data 05 21 02'

Can anybody enlighten me as to what this means ? And if anybody knows how to fix it that would be fabulous.

I'm not tech-minded, so easy simple explanations would be great !!

Hi again guys, I've just found out I get the same error message when I try to burn cd's. I never had any trouble burning cd's with the free version, now that I have 'upgraded' to Plus, nothing works !!

I think I have just wasted my hard-earned on this product

Hi,

When you say that you've 'upgraded' to plus, are you saying that you downloaded a new version of Express burn when you purchased the license?

Or did you just purchase the license, then input the license details into the version you were already using?

also what version are you using now? If you click on Help -> about it will tell you the version number. should be 4.25.

Hi, thanks for replying to my post.

I entered the license details into the free version of EB I was already using, ( v4.25. )

I 'Googled' the error code I am recieving, ( sense data 05 21 02 ) and it is coming from my burner.

It means a disc-write error, apparently it doesn't like the discs I'm using ( Panasonic DVD+R, x16, 4.7Gb ) so perhaps the problem could be solved by a simple change of brand of disc ?

Unfortunately I haven't had time yet to purchase an alternative.

Do you have any recommendations for good discs to use in this way ?

I apologise also for not explaining properly what I am doing.

I am retrieving files from a flash memory stick ( Sandisk Cruzer ) with the extension .ts then coverting them to .mpeg2 format using iSkysoft Video converter, and attempting to burn to disc with EB

Weirdly, I have had one 'successful' burn using this technique and discs, but it will only play on my pc.

Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated

Coolies thankyou for the info.

Here is what to do.

Download the new version 4.26 from our website. (your license will still work with this version)

And give it a whirl.

If it works great.

If not: try a different type of DVD. your using dvd+r's at the moment, so first try a dvd-r. (dvd+r is far superior but when things fail its always good to find one that works. dvd-r is more compatible with older players too)

If that fails, try another brand of dvd+r. tdk, sony, varbatim are all decent.

If it still fails let me know by clicking on my name and then clicking send message.

One other thing to note is that we have a program for converting files to AVI too. its called prism if you want to give it a try.

I downloaded V4.26 today and have tried to burn a batch of 15 identical CD-ROMs (data only). I finally gave up after receiving the Error 05 21 02 as others have reported here. Of 9 attempts, 6 gave this error.

I have two different brands of CD burners in my PC and they both gave this error. I also tried slowing the write speed to see if that would make a difference. No luck.

In frustration I went back to using the built-in Windows XP facility - which has never failed to write a CD - and I was able to complete my task with no further errors.

It's clear that Express Burn has a major problem. My own experience, plus that of several other users in this forum speaks to that.

This is not a product that I would consider paying money to upgrade.
