Gray Stripes on left half of Wavepad. Unusable

I am generally delighted with my NCH suite of programmes However I cannot get wavepad to work!!!

I have reloaded several times ( win 98se) but every time I open it grey stripes fill the left half of the screen.

The stripes are the same width as the buttons.

I have tried this on 2 completely separate machines and the result is the same.

I followed the link reccommended at the top of this forum

Upon running the program on an xp machine I see that the top to bottom vertical stripes in 98 coincide with the transport buttons at the bottom.

Like I said 2 separate down loads to separate 98se machines do the same thing.

I would like to crack this because my old machine has a neat 6 disc teac changer which won't work with xp

Anyone else running wavepad under 98se?
