I installed the newest version of Express Scribe (4.30) on my PC to go with my transcription pedal on a laptop that I just purchased. I've used Express Scribe for years, but not on this computer. I am running Windows Vista (also new to me). On and off the pedal does not respond. Sometimes I simply have to plug into another USB port and other times I have to go into the Foot Pedal Control Setup Wizard in Options/Playback, which sometimes tells me it doesn't recognize the device. Is my pedal going bad or is this a glitch with Vista or is it my new computer? If it's the pedal, what do I need to do? If it's the computer or the USB ports, I'll gladly take it up with Dell. Thanks, Regina
I have the same problem. Now my problem is greater. I had my vista computer (also a new laptop) restored and now nothing works. It won't recognize the pedals at all! I've been told that XP will work best with ES and it should work perfectly. If you purchase Vista business, about 136.00, you can down-grade to xp and use the same code as Vista Business by calling Microsoft. They will give you a waiver to do so and give you or allow you to use the product key code on the new Vista Business software for the XP downgrade.
I'm going to try that. Vista stinks. It seems like as many posts and difficulties people are having with this ES product, they would come out with a patch to fix it and we could work more efficiently. It's not like we haven't invested lots of $$$ to purchase their product, don't you think?
