Hi—
I’m having a problem loading certain recordings and wondered if you had advice. I use the Express Scribe 4.15, the current Skype, and Pamela 3.5.0.59.
Here’s specific issue I’m having. Whenever I record an incoming call with Pamela from someone without caller ID (Pamela records it as “undisclosed_pstr”) Express Scribe won’t load it, either automatically or manually. (There’s no error message, incidentally – the program does nothing.)
Basically, I can’t “see” the recording using Express Scribe. It's also no longer among the Pamela recordings in the Pamela folder, as a recording would be normally before ES loaded it. However, within the Pamela program itself it’s still listed and I can play it back.
Any idea what could cause that?
I also had a few related questions.
* What does Express Scribe do with the original recording when it loads? Pamela records calls into MP3s. Then when Express Scribe loads them, they automatically disappear from the Pamela folder. I’d like to know what Express Scribe is doing, exactly. Is it converting the MP3 into a *.dct and deleting the original? If so, is there a way that it could not do that, so I can keep the original MP3?
* Where does Express Scribe keep the .dct files? Why can’t I find a folder of them on my HD? Once converted, are they no longer accessible from outside the program?
Thanks for your help. Aside from this problem, I love the program.
