Do I need a foot pedal?

fionauk33

I am new to using this software and was hoping that someone more experienced might be able to give me some advice.

I am about to start using this software to transcribe interviews conducted for my Thesis. Previously I have used tape recorders to record interviews, but feel its about time I got a bit more up to date and used digital voice recorders.

I will have approximately 8 hours worth of interviews to transcribe and wondered if people find the "hot keys" adequate for this, or would people advise I shell out for the foot pedal? Does it make things much easier or not?

Thanks

Hi, I'm handicapped and can't use a foot pedal. I started using ExpressScribe about nine years ago, because of the hot keys. My only complaint about ES hot keys is that there are different keys for play and stop. Other, not as good programs, have a pause/play/pause toggle (including backstep if you have that enabled), and also a feature that automatically pauses, backsteps, and plays at set times.

Short answer, nah! Hot keys are hot! KRN
