Precision of track length

I trim a recording down to a whole-second length, removing any hundredths of seconds (i.e. 0:02:38.00). I save and close the file. When I open it again, the length of the song is 0:02:38.03. So I trim off the excess .03 seconds and save and close the file. I open it again, and the .03 seconds is back (or .04 or .05). Why won't the track remain exactly the duration at which I saved it?

then name your own folder and drive [ example - D:\audio\wavepad-working-folder ]

clik ok

I had a variety of weird problems that just stopped after re-naming the working folder.
