Huge conversion files!

I'm new to this forum and have looked through may threads but can't seem to find an answer to this possibly simple question. One of my transcribers is unable to play dss files via Express Scribe (which I know is a problem with many people), so I have purchased Switch to convert the dss files for her but converting seems to make the files really large - eg a 7,600kb dss file became a 70,700kb wma file which then takes ages to upload to an ftp folder. Any suggestions?

What version of Express Scribe are they using? You could try updating to the latest version of downgrading to a previous version (there are several topics about this on the Express Scribe forum). As for the file size, you could try another file format (such as mp3), but make sure you pay attention to the encoder settings you use. For example a conversion with a lower bitrate will result in a smaller filesize than a conversion with a higher one.
