if I recall correctly from the old analog days, the record and overwrite function is supposed to overdub the existing part of a dictation. Imagine a 15 sec. long dictation, where you have played until second 5 and then record new content for three seconds. What I would expect to have now is a blended dictation which is still 15 seconds long but has new content from second 5 to 8.
This is not what Pocket Dictate does (at least not on my unit). Pocket Dictate will delete any part of a dictation after the current point and then just append the new content. Anything after the current position will thus be lost and the new part just appended.
Can you confirm this?
