Did the original WAVs play at full speed? What are you using to listen to the MP3 files? Try different encoder settings (or a different audio format all together) and see if this solves your problem. If it doesn't then that suggests there is an issue with the source file, see if you're able to open it up in WavePad and use that for a conversion.
