Computer freezing when using ES

I've had this problem for a few weeks now where I'm transcribing from ES and mid way the computer freezes up and I need to reboot, therefore losing all the work I had done since the last auto save.

I've got the audio set to real time as it cuts out if I leave it as it. I've been working that forever, so that's not what's causing it. It's done it with version 4.05 and version 4.17 (most recently), so it's not that either.

I did have quite a large amount of files loaded up but even after removing them it still happens. I've got plenty of free disk space.

It's getting very frustrating and I can't figure out what's causing the freezes. Can someone give a suggestion?

Hi again,

I've had a bit of progress with the cause of the freezing up. When I don't set the program priority to Real Time, then it doesn't seem to freeze up, but the problem is that my audio cuts out and I need to reboot to reset the sound card. So I have a bit of a dilemma. Is there a solution that will fix both issues that anyone knows of?
