I am looking to purchase this software but would like to know if can solve my problem. I have several recordings I need to listen to, but there is a great deal of background wind noise. I can make out some of the words but the wind noise is just to great to hear everything. Will this software edit out the wind noise or can it pull the words out for me?

If you play around with some of the filters (try some of the noise removal ones) you should be able to achieve what you want. Alternatively, have a look at Express Scribe. It has a built in filter designed for background noise removal.
