Poor MP3 playback quality?

I am playing back long (20+ minute) MP3 files & I find that the MP3 quality sounds poor. In fact, it may be my ears playing tricks on me, but the quality seems to degrade as the message is playing. Is this a known issue? Would Wav files sound better?

Poorsound quality is almost always an issue with your modem and its wave drivers. Try checking if there are updated drivers available (from the manufacturers website). Also try uninstalling your modem and reinstalling.

I have a creative modem v.92 internal with the latest drivers. Will Wav sound better than MP3?

By wave drivers I mean the voice/wave drivers that come with every voice modem. They allow the modem to act as record/playback devices in windows.

We have some other vaugue reports of playback quility decreasing over long playbacks and we are researching this issue.

It may be better to try a wave file instead. If it is only speech try the GSM codec which is very efficient at voice only information. Otherwise if you have plenty of disk space try PCM.
