serial pedal detection problem

hi all,

i am hoping someone shed light on my problem. i am using ubuntu 6.10 and installed express scribe via wine.the installation went smoothly.my problem is when i tried to setup my serial foot pedal with the foot pedal control setup wizard...

the pedal is connected to my com1 and im 100 % sure that it is connected properly because i can manipulate the rew/ff/play button when the wizard ask me to press it(i can also hear the voice file plays when im still on the control setup wizard) but once i have press and assigned the appropriate buttons and click on ok and get me back to the main express scribe window the pedals wont play or respond when pressing it..i have added the com1 symbolic link to /dev/ttyS0 on the dosdevices directory(i ve even change the owner of ttyS0 to myself) but still no luck.what am i missing?it's driving me nuts. :angry: :blink:

problem was solved.i just made an upgrade of wine from 0.9.22 to 0.9.49. i am posting this so that if anyone out there who has the same problem of mine will bail out on this one easily.thanks and happy holidays everyone!
