Now purchased Switch but cannot get it to work.
Ripped my CDs with Winamp 5.5 as 320bps VBR MP3. Switch encoder options set to 128bps CBR MP3. Tried to convert one folder. All converted as 320bps i.e no change file sizes exactly the same!
Re-ripped one track as 320bps CBR. Again Switch encoder options set to 128bps CBR. still converted as 320bps i.e file size still the same.
Can anyone please advise?
Hello there. This is anyone speaking.
I do not understand why you should be having a problem, _if_ your objective is simply to convert the tracks on an audio CD to a corresponding set of files that are compressed at a constant bit rate of 128kbps. Nothing could be simpler!
Simply put that CD in your CD drive and click on the drive icon. You will now be presented with a list of numbered tracks, having the extension .cda. Are you still with me?
Now select the tracks that you want to convert to mp3 and drag them to the Switch window. They will be listed in this window. Are you still with me?
Now go down to the Switch encoder options, choose mp3 and the select a constant bit rate of 128kbps. Also choose the (output) location on your hard drive where you want to store these files. Are you still with me?
Now click on the Switch "convert" button, go eat dinner, and come back here after dinner to pick up your mp3 files. Are you still with me?

Great. Now for dessert.
What on earth is all of this business about Winamp 5.5 about? On second thought; don't tell me, as I will probably not understand your tortuous explanation. You see, in the above procedure I did not even mention Winamp, did I?
Just forget about using Winamp, at least for this particular task. Although you may have some reason for using Winamp for whatever, I have never found a need to use _any_ version of Winamp--for _any_ purpose whatsoever.
Are you still with me?
If I have lost you, let me know.
