When I receive calls on the IVM screen caller ID section, it says unknown. I am quite sure that my telco is sending the id as I do see if I recieve a call on my cellphone. Also our mobile operarators do send caller ids. Now with IVM it says caller unknown whether the call is from a mobile or landline.

I have entered the following in hyper terminal command.

AT#CLS=8#CID=1, which is the caller id set up string for most modems and ok did appear on the screen.

Now I asked some one to call me from his mobile and only the word ring continued to appear on the hyper terminal window for each incoming call. I expected to see the word ring followed by one or more additional data lines.

Seeing only the word ring for each incoming call indicates that the caller id is not working. Is there any one out there using a Sahara 56k USB modem (on my computer it is indicated as SmartUSB56 modem) with the IVM answering attendent and it's showing the caller id? How is caller id enabled?

IVM receives the caller ID information directly from your modem drivers. If IVM is not reporting the caller ID, it is likely that your drivers are not passing this information on (that is assuming that your modem supports the feature). Try updating your drivers, or alternatively try a different modem and see if you have any different results.
