Single Line Answering Machine (SIP)

I am trying to determine if the IVM Answering Attendant fits my need for a single line answering service. Calls are converted to SIP/RTP by a Cisco router connected to a PRI T1. I can make incoming and outgoing calls just fine through the Cisco with Express Talk, but what I would like is a simple answering machine to pick up after a certain number of rings. Are there softphones with this functionality built in?

Is it possible to just add the IVM piece to Express Talk, or would other applications be required such as Axon and VRS?

IVM is able to do this for you, however I don't know if having two applications (IVM and Express Talk) registering to one SIP account is a good idea. If you wish to do this properly you would need to install Axon as well. Your configuration would then be:

Cisco <-> Axon <-> IVM and Express Talk

Axon registers with the Cisco router, and IVM and Express Talk register with Axon using their own extensions. When Axon receives a call, it will call a group of extensions (being IVM and Express Talk) allowing either to correctly answer the call.
