Express Scribe for Linux

Express Scribe is now natively supported in Linux!

If you are a Linux user (or are simply interested in converting) please try this newly released product.

After extracting the tar.gz, I had issues with successfully running the scribe.sh script. Do you have any available documentation regarding the installation of the native Linux version? For example, what types of dependencies are there and which distributions are supported? I am using the Knoppix-based DSL 1.4 distribution, and was interested in building a DSL-based transcription Live-CD. Thanks!

This is very exciting! It installed on my Ubuntu 7 Feisty System that I just upgraded today. However, I get no sound. It dectects the sound card. It is a high end soundcard, an MAudio Delta 1010, which used to have problems in linux, but doesn't anymore. It loaded a file fine, but when I go to play, nothing happens. The play position doesn't move, nothing comes out. I know my sound is working.

I hope the bugs get ironed out, cause I love your software! And being able to transcribe in linux would be awesome!

I am going to add my vote for additional install information in regards to Linux.

I am running Debian Etch and cannot get the native express.sh script to run or install. It does work under WINE, and most of the functionality seems to be present, though i am pretty new to the program.

Root permission is required to install scribe

I am assuming that there is a problem with the presence of the GLIBC_2.4 version on the newer kernel, but I am not sure what to do about that.

This probably means another program is using your soundcard, which means Express Scribe is unable to access it. Try closing the other applications and see if your problem still persists.

You apparently need to update your glibc to a newer version.
