I have been reading the section on licensing
http://www.nch.com.au/support/reg.html
I do see some situations that I do not see addressed.
1. What happens 1 year plus after I have paid and activated the software and I find that my computer has crashed (no thanks to Windows instability - or even due to a bad Windows patch or even a hardware failure).
a. So I did a fresh reinstall of my operating system.
Will I be able to reinstall and reactivate IVM without any problems or would the activation code have expired.
b. I found that I had to buy a new computer.
Will I be able to reinstall and reactivate IVM without any problems or would the activation code have expired or even perhaps even if the activation code was valid, it would not be valid for the new computer.
2. My computer has not crashed, but I do find that I would like to move the IVM to another computer which is more powerful.
Is there a way I can deactivate the installation of IVM, send the deactivation code to NCH and then obtain a new activation code so I can move IVM to a new computer without re-purchasing a new license.
I can understand the need for NCH to protect its software.
But it would be nice to have a system where users can have some degree of comfort that should they need to move their software installation, they don't have to go a begging to get their software installed. A deactivation code system would allay the fears for both NCH and users. NCH get its just rewards for its efforts and users get what they paid for.
3. Can I buy IVM now but delay installing it for several months
Will the serial number expire if I do not install the software right away ?
This situation arises if for example I would like to purchase the software to take advantage of a discount, but I do not have the time to implement IVM until say 9 months later ?
4. Can support be bought separately ?
If I do not purchase any of the support plans together with the software purchase, can I purchase either silver, gold and platinum subsequently.
I mean, we may find that we have to fiddle with the software first before we know whether support is necessary or do we basically take a gamble on whether or not to buy support at the time of purchase of the software.
5. Upgrade path
Is there an upgrade path from say the Professional license to the Enterprise License and what is the pricing.
