I'm not sure whether this is a Mac-specific issue or not, but I'm using Express Scribe (4.05) with Mac OS 10.4.9 on a G4 Powerbook. I notice that, in order to use my IN-USB-1 foot pedal for controlling Express Scribe, the pedal has to be plugged in before opening Express Scribe. If I open the application before plugging in the pedal, the pedal won't work. If I have been working on Express Scribe with the pedal, then unplug the pedal and plug it back in, it will no longer work; I have to quite Express Scribe, plug in the pedal, and then reopen Express Scribe for it all to work.
