I'm a new employee. I "inherited" a PC (laptop) from a previous employee, now gone. I found WavePad Pro installed but with the trial period expired. The product looks like it might suit a project on my plate that needs to be finished by mid-June, but I don't really know -- or know if if I want to purchase -- because I haven't gotten to try the product yet. I can't even "just go ahead and purchase" at this time, because I can't match up the "details from [the] registration e-mail," because it wasn't me who registered, but my predecessor. I can make a semi-educated guess as to what his registration name and e-mail address may have been, but I'm not certain. I definitely can't come up with any other information on him.
Also -- in the hope of installing a new, trial-enabled version, I tried d/l'ing "ordinary" WavePad (not Pro) and installing it -- and now it seems to have replaced Pro, but still says it's expired.
Is there any way to entirely wipe out, or reset, WavePad Pro (or non-Pro) to free-trial state so that I can try it and see if I want to purchase it? Wiping out and reinstalling all of Windows is not an option! (NCH reps, assuming you quite naturally don't want to tell me how to reset it, how about having someone there whip up a little program that does it "opaquely," then itself expires? That ought to protect you.)
Also, can I now re-install Pro, to re-overwrite the "plain" version get me back to Pro, where I started?
Given my mid-June deadline, this matter has some urgency to it. If I can't get a quick solution I'll have to totally uninstall Pro, never again try it, and use some other product.
I haven't found any way to contact NCH to ask these questions of someone who might be able to help swiftly and directly.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
