Converting uncompressed .au to mp3 making file bigger!

Hi,

I downloaded the free version as I want to convert .au files which contain uncompressed 64k voice to mp3. It works fine however instead of finding my new mp3 files smaller, they seem to be twice the size of my .au files. My understanding of mp3 is that it is a compression algorithim that should reduce my files size, not make it bigger.

Any ideas appreciated.

Double check the settings of your mp3 encoder. You may be converting to a 16-bit stereo file which of course will be larger. Also check the bitrate and other settings used.
