Downloading the free wavepad, I thought I could resolve my problem of gaps between tracks..seems wavepad will allow you to edit a single track, but have yet to find out how to put two tracks together and then remove the gap between them...any help would be greatly appreciated..
Here's how.
-------------
This is a "cut-and-paste" procedure (for audio tracks, where an audio track is like a word), analogous to cutting and pasting one word to another word using a word processor, and then eliminating any space that remains between these two patched-together words.
Are you ready?
First, open both tracks in WavePad, which will give you a dual-track display, with one track above the other.
Suppose that you want to patch these two tracks together to produce a single track, and that the bottom track is to follow the top track in the single-track display which results.
Select the bottom track by clicking anywhere on it and then press Ctrl-A. The complete bottom track is now highlighted. Then press Ctrl-X, which "cuts" the bottom track and places it on the clipboard, leaving a vacant display for the bottom track. If you wish, you may reduce the clutter by closing this vacant track, since it is no longer needed. If you do this, expand the top track to its full dimensions by clicking on the hollow square at the top right of the track. You now have a normal, single-track display, consisting of the original top track, along with the bottom track that is contained on the clipboard.
At the bottom of the WavePad display is a group of large symbols, one of which is the symbol for the end of the track. This "end" symbol is a right-facing black triangle, followed by a vertical line which touches the point of the triangle.
Click anywhere on the track that is displayed, whether or not it has been expanded to its full dimensions.
Click on the "end" symbol. This places the cursor at the end of the track.
Press Ctrl-V, which copies the contents of the clipboard (the original bottom track) at the cursor on the top track. This cursor is now at the end of the top track.
At this point, you will have a single-track display, which consists of the original top track, a space (the length of which depends upon the spaces in the two original tracks), followed by the original bottom track.
If you want to get rid of this space, then click at the beginning of the space, hold down the mouse button, and drag the mouse to the end of the space. Release the mouse button, and the space will be highlighted, indicating that it has been selected.
Press the "Delete" key and this highlighted space will disappear, leaving a single track consisting of the original top track followed immediately by the original bottom track.
I assume that this is what you want. If not, then please restate your request.
This is a simple procedure, which is much easier to perform than to explain!
