knowing when switch (in command line) has finished

Hi all,

I'm trying to use switch with my c# console application to perform batch operation on my wav files(compress wav files to wav codec).

My biggest problem is that I want to deal with each file at a time , so I want to know when "switch" has finished dealing with the file , and then continue to the next one. In the command line , the switch is being activated seperatly , so when I close my c# application , "switch" is still working (although the "father" process is down).

Is there any way to cope with this problem ? -something like an option in the "switch" command line to wait until the process is done ?

Another problem I see (but dealing with this in the application) is if I want to overwrite files (wav to wav) - I get a 1kb file (only writing the header).

We have investigated the problem at length, but it looks like we won't be developing a solution for this. The problem is that Switch is not a command line tool - it is a GUI tool. The command line options are simply extensions of the GUI functionality.

For tools that are command-line only, Windows handles it automatically by blocking until the operations are finished. In the case of GUI tools though, Windows refuses to block at all from the command line. And we have been unable thus far to find any information on MSDN that indicates it is possible to block after the execution of a GUI application from the command line.

re: your other problem, I haven't heard of any such reports of a similar issue, so I am unsure what to say at this point (I certainly don't get any problems on my end).

this is an old post - but I solved this issue in a VB.NET app with a shellandwait function.
