I'm currently using Wave Pad V 3.05 and I'm not having much luck with removing the back ground tape noise. I have found that using "grab noise sample from selected area" and then "apply spectral subtraction based on noise sample" seams to work the best. I've tried the automatic noise reductions in both Wave Pad and Golden Record and have played with the noise level settings but I keep getting a final version that sounds like it came out of a tin can. Currently I'm working on a tape recording that has some quiet rainfall and a thunderstorm that leads into some very loud rock & roll. Neither of the options seem to be able to take the hiss sample from the area just after the leader but before the music and use that to remove the noise without distorting the music. Am I over looking something or am I asking too much?
