How to record other than voice

I don`t know how this is, but I can record voice but no other sound. please help. this is driving me nuts

What "other sound" are you attempting to record? If it's audio from a file, try this...

Under the OPTIONS | RECORD tab. In lieu of Default Sound In, test the Streaming choice as well.

Then click the Open Sound Recording Settings link...

When this page appears right-click on Stereo Mix and enable it...

Now it should be recording what you hear when a file plays in Windows.

If the level is too low on playback, click the Levels tab, then the Normalize button on the toolbar and choose Auto-normalize.

If you can record your own voice but can’t hear other system sounds, I’d first check the playback device and volume settings. Make sure the correct speakers or headphones are selected as the default output device and that the volume mixer hasn’t muted the application you’re using.

You could also try restarting the device, reconnecting your headphones/speakers, and updating or reinstalling the audio driver. If the microphone works normally but there is still no playback from any application, checking the sound device in your system’s audio settings should help narrow down whether it’s a software or hardware issue.
