Removal of black "negative space" in JPGs cause issues with transitions

Greetings! Not sure how to explain this exactly, but most of the JPGs I use in my videos are cropped, and the black "negative space" takes up some of the borders, which is what I want. But in my current video, VP is removing that "negative space" which causes a "jump" in the transitions. Interestingly, those JPGS for which I include a Text retain the black space, so I'm not sure what's going on here; can you help? Thanks!

Share the project so someone can see exactly what you see. It's not difficult; just follow these steps, one-by-one. Don't skip any. And, if using GoogleDrive for the upload, don't forget to change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Zip the folder --- It will be numbered. In Windows right-click on it and Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc. - to upload the zipped folder. When it completes...
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

I also meant to point out that you can really see the "jump" at 00:31.829, and you'll notice that at 01:01.060 the "negative space" is fine.

Update: I had to wrap this up and export it in order to show it to my boss (at least as a draft), and interestingly, those "jumps" didn't show up in the MP4 file! So it might be one of those glitches that show up in VideoPad but not on the exported MP4 (kind of like those caching issues I had before). Am still curious as to whether it's truly a bug or not, though! Thanks for your help!

Beautiful lepidoptera.

Disparate aspect ratios are at the root of the issue. Add the Letterbox to Aspect Ratio effect to clips that follow a transition shift.

The likely reason the mp4 looks good is because that mode was specified during export, so it corrected the problem.

Copy the attached VPJ file to the same folder as the original. Preview should be smooth.
