How do I merge/flatten layers in Photpad

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for over half an hour now 😡

There isn't a single mention of this that I can find in online videos or articles about Photopad.

How do I merge aka flatten layers so that I can then select areas from the resultant image without getting copy selection errors !

I have tried selecting multiple layers, but I can't - I can select only one at a time, so unable to combine.

According to an AI agent, in NCH PhotoPad you cannot merge or flatten layers in the way Photoshop or GIMP let you: there is no “Merge Layers”, “Merge Visible”, or “Flatten Image” command.

PhotoPad’s layer system is intentionally non‑destructive: layers (effects, text, overlays, draw layers, etc.) are kept separate and re‑evaluated every time you edit or export, and the UI only lets you select and manipulate one layer at a time.
