Clinic background
I work at vvaclinic.com (a small animal clinic in Everett, WA). We used to type all patient exam notes by hand or dictate into a phone. It was slow and created a backlog every afternoon.
What we tried
About 6 months ago, we started testing NCH Record Pad with a simple USB foot pedal (Infinity). We set up custom hotkeys: one pedal for "start/stop recording", another for "insert timestamp", and a third for "insert common phrase" (like "vaccination given, next due in 3 weeks").
Results
Exam notes are now 2–3x faster to complete.
We can record short notes during the exam without touching the keyboard – less cross‑contamination risk.
The transcription accuracy is good enough for internal records (we still review before saving to our practice management software).
Question for the community
Has anyone here integrated Record Pad with a cloud‑based practice management system (like VetBlue or Cornerstone)? We currently copy/paste from Record Pad, but automation would be even better.
Also, do you have any recommended macros or phrase libraries for a medical/veterinary setting?
Thanks for any tips
