Express Rip should automatically detect an inserted audio CD and refresh the track list; if it keeps going to your Music folder, that usually means it is not seeing the disc as a readable audio CD, or the output folder setting is being used instead of the disc view.
What to check
- Make sure the disc is a proper audio CD with
.cda tracks, not a data disc or a CD with files copied onto it. Express Rip will not properly read discs that are not audio CDs.
- In Express Rip, confirm the Output Folder box is set where you want the ripped files saved; you can change it with the Browse button.
- Try ejecting and reinserting the CD, then use the refresh/load option if available. The software is supposed to detect a new CD and refresh automatically.
If the disc still is not detected
- Check whether Windows itself sees the disc in File Explorer.
- Try another audio CD to see whether the issue is with one disc or the drive.
- If the program keeps showing no tracks, the CD may not be a standard audio CD, or the drive may be having trouble reading it.
Folder confusion
- The Music folder is a common default location for CD ripping in some programs, but Express Rip itself saves to the Output Folder you set in its options.
- If you are actually seeing files land in Music after ripping, that is usually a saved output-path setting rather than a CD-detection problem
