NCH creates a cache and index file when I use Lightroom

When I open Lightroom, import photos to my lightroom catalogue, click on an image in lightroom, transfer a photo to or from photoshop. Photostage creates an NCH cache file and an index file each time.

My NCH software isn't open when I do any of these actions

I am not sure if this is a NCH or Lightroom setting that needs to be changed. Does anyone have any ideas?
