"You can’t point Inventoria directly at an online “Google Cloud” folder (like a GCS bucket URL), but you can change its default data/files folder to any local or synced folder that your Google service uses on your computer.
Below are the two common setups and how to handle each.
1. If you use Google Drive for Desktop
Goal: Make Inventoria save to a folder that is synced with Google Drive.
Install and sign in to Google Drive for desktop (if you haven’t already).
In Google Drive’s preferences, make sure at least one folder is mirrored locally (not just streamed).
Note the full path of the local Drive folder you want Inventoria to use (for example on Windows: C:\Users\<you>\My Drive\Inventoria or wherever you’ve set it; on macOS: /Users/<you>/Library/CloudStorage/GoogleDrive-…/My Drive/Inventoria).
In Inventoria:
Restart Inventoria to ensure it now opens/saves from that folder.
If Inventoria does not offer a direct “data folder” option, look for any “Backup,” “Export,” or “Reports” path settings and point those at the Google Drive folder; sometimes only specific file types can be redirected.
2. If you literally mean “Google Cloud Storage” (GCS bucket)
Inventoria has no built‑in support to read/write directly to a GCS bucket via a cloud URL. To use GCS:
Use a sync or mount tool (for example, gcsfuse or a third‑party GUI tool) to mount your GCS bucket as a local folder/drive on your computer.
Once it appears as a normal folder/drive letter, follow the same steps as above:
Keep that mount tool running whenever you use Inventoria so the folder is accessible.
3. Things to double‑check
Make sure the Inventoria data file (or database) is not in a read‑only cloud cache; use a “mirrored” or mounted folder that behaves like a normal local disk.
Avoid putting the live data file in a folder shared between multiple users unless NCH explicitly documents multi‑user/network setups for your license; corruption can happen if two machines write to the same file simultaneously.
