"You can’t resize Express Scribe’s main window width independently, but you can switch to a much narrower “mini” view and also hide panels so it takes up less horizontal space.
Option 1 – Use Scribe Mini (narrow playback strip)
This is the built‑in way to make the program much smaller on screen.
On the menu bar, go to View → Show Express Scribe Mini Control (or similar wording depending on version).
Or press Ctrl + M to toggle Scribe Mini on and off.
You can also click the Scribe Mini button in the main toolbar; the window will shrink to a narrow strip with just controls (and video if enabled), reducing width dramatically.
Press Ctrl + M again or click the same toolbar button to restore the normal, larger window.
Option 2 – Hide extra panes (if you stay in full mode)
If you prefer the full interface but want it less wide, hide side or lower panes so you can comfortably shrink the window.
In the View menu, turn off items like Show Notes Window to remove the notes panel.
After hiding extra panels, drag the window’s right edge inward; with fewer visible panes, Express Scribe can be resized narrower than before.
If you’re still unable to get the width you want after trying these, the program’s design may limit its minimum width, in which case Scribe Mini is usually the best solution."
