Downloads being converted to VideoPad

As I download data from some other programs I find that it is showing up in my files as VideoPad files, which of course don't work. Suggestions? Thanks

When you encounter a file type that is mistakenly opening in Videopad...

Right-click on the file, Choose Open With. At the bottom of the list, click on Choose Another App.

Find the correct app for opening that file type, click on Always.

If the correct app isn't listed, scroll down and click on Choose An App On Your PC.

That should correct the association.

The app doesn't help me as it is downloading from a data collection equipment. Anyone aware of a setting in VideoPad that controls the output format? I haven't found one.

Videopad can export in many formats, which are listed in the drop-down menu of export menu...

None of these is a DAT file, which would be internal to the program and not a concern for users.

Yes. Thanks. I can recover my data via another way, so I don't lose, it just a pain to do a workaround for storage. Thanks for the efforts. I'll continue to look into it.
