Issue with narrate

there is a loud hissing sound, not my voice, then I did some adjustments, (can't recall what I did, probably in settings), recorded again. Now there is still the loud hissing sound, and my voice very faint, in the background.

Can someone kindly advise, please?

Check settings. In Videopad confirm that the Device is the Default... Or try the Microphone setting.

Just under the "devices" list click on Windows Record Mixer. Make the microphone the default if it isn't already and double-click on it.

You should see this screen... Turn up the mic volume, and add Mic Boost if necessary.
