Export problem

After creating a video in Videopad, I have carefully followed the instructions for uploading to YouTube (export file, export wizard, etc.) The create command returns an immediate "failed" message, with no further information. What am I doing wrong?

Hard to say, without having the project to analyze. If you'd care to share it, see these instructions.

This may be a YouTube failure. To work around it, export as a Video file, then use YT's uploader...

The video didn't provide any insight. When I tried using the YT uploader, the message is "invalid file format." I assume this means a preliminary conversion procedure is needed? How does one go about this?

Share the file and we'll take a look.

Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share or Copy. Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, click SHARE | SHARE and change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.**

So, I gather that .vpj is not supported by YouTube. So I tried to use Prism to convert the file to .avi, but it will not accept the file (the image disappears when it crosses into the drop area). Another dead end? Grrrr . . .

The VPJ is an instructional file for Videopad. It's not viewable or playable and it's not the project. It tells the project what to do.

If you EXPORT as a Video file - mp4 format is common - YouTube should handle that type just fine.

If you share the file (not the VPJ), but the original file that has no video, we can take a look.

I did the "export as a video file" , and get the screen where there are several default settings (default format is avi, but I tried mp4 too) but the "create" command still shows me an export queue with another "failed" notation. Just going in circles. Sigh . . .

The only way to track this down is to submit the project for analysis. That almost always comes up with a fix.

Follow these instructions one-by-one. Don't skip any. Do NOT separately upload the VPJ or a file that you exported. Everything needed will be included in the package.

The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Zip the folder --- It will be numbered. In Windows right-click on it and Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the zipped folder. When it completes...
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

* Don't forget, if using Google Drive, to click SHARE | SHARE and change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."

Thanks for sharing. Tested both a VP direct upload, and YouTube's uploader. Both succeeded.

Your mp4 file should be no issue for the YT uploader, if you have given the correct permissions to Google.

But you might try uploading the exported Video file from another PC. Remember, it's the mp4 that's required for success, not the VPJ.

I'm sorry to be such an idiot, but does the mp4 exist separately somewhere, or do i have to create it?

In Videopad, with the project on the timeline, when you Export as a Video File the usual default is mp4, though many other formats are available.

As illustrated in the earlier image, click the Export menu tab, then the Video File button on the toolbar.

Look over the settings, which are usually fine as is, then Create. The resulting mp4 will normally go to the Downloads folder on your PC.

That's the file needed for the YT uploader.

It just won't create an export video. "Create" command returns "failed".

Then it appears there's an issue with either the program or your PC.

Try this release. If that doesn't work, test on another PC, if available.

For one-time licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If there's an issue, you can always revert.
