Cannot add text after following Photostage instructions

Never had this issue before. I follow the instructions to add text to a slide, but when I try to type anything, nothing appears.

How can I add text to slides?

Select the slide that you would like to add the Text Overlay to
Click on the Effects tab
Select Text Overlay from the Effects Library
Enter the text in the textbox
Select the font, attributes and alignment

I get a checkerboard screen and cannot type anything. I when back to a previous slideshow, where I successfully added text, tried to add more text and same issue, checkerboard and no new text.

I'm using the latest update. (Maybe that's the problem??)

Any help will be much appreciated.

First thing to check... is the text color the same as the background? That would render it invisible.

If no joy, try reinstalling. Earlier releases are available here. Ignore any virus warnings. Select a 64-bit version.

Thanks. I tried different text colors with no success. I will try to reinstall and let you know. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well I reinstalled it and the text issue was solved, but it created another issue where I had to locate some of the slides it lost. Fixed that. Thanks for the help.
