New download it asks for monthly payments?

Hi,

I was using Videopad for a very long time with lifetime license(I had bought it long time ago). Now I want to use the new one (as one sort of action camera video is not processed well on it) but I notice now I have to pay yearly fees. I also notice there is a life-long option like before but I can't find it on the website. Where can I find the lifelong membership version to download.

After purchase of a one-time license there's a six-month grace period where updates are free. But there's no mandate to make a change if the app is working well for you. The latest can always be test driven to see what's new during an unregistered full-featured trial period.

You can revert to your older licensed release or purchase an update, either on a one-time or subscription basis.

If you have lost the installer for your older version, it's available here. Ignore any virus or update warnings. If it updates to the latest, disconnect from the Net when installing. Any release that is dated within the six-month period of your original buy should honor your license.

But, just to be clear, if you've ordered a version of VP that's more that 6 months old, you shouldn't update it unless you want to purchase another license, right?

One-time purchases do not expire, but the six-month free upgrade period does. The release that you bought will continue to function as always.

Many releases are for maintenance purposes - bug fixes, or perhaps a new feature. Occasionally you may be proded for an upgrade, but there's no mandate. If your version is doing the job for you, no need to change. You can test drive the latest for a trial period, even if unregistered. If nothing catches your fancy reinstall your purchased version.

There is also a subscription plan, as noted above. You cannot order a VP version that's old, AFAIK, but you can download them from here.

Jeez. Am I explaining this right or is the is the language barrier with the Aussies that different?? lol. I have asked support this same question worded differently every time, several times.

When I apparently and mistakenly upgraded my VP installation well beyond the six months, my registration code would NOT work. It did not recognize the the code and I had to go search for the original version of the exe. ?

That's correct. You upgraded after the gratis window, so the code won't work. Any releases within that six-month period should accept your registration.

So, two alternatives: don't upgrade, or upgrade and pay. Look here.

Now with that being said, on a related subject, I have 2 follow up question:

What is the difference in the files labeled merely .exe, and 64bitpaid.exe & steam.exe ?
Hypothetically, if the version I purchased was "....2020-01-22.exe, does that mean I could (hypothetically) upgrade up to version ".....2020-07-22.exe?

1. The "merely .exe." is the 32bit release. 64bitpaid.exe is recommended. Videopad is also available through the Steam and Microsoft stores.

2. Yes, your registration should be accepted within the six-month grace period.

Later versions are not necessarily better, or noticeably different. Subtle changes may have been made 'under the hood.'
