Being new to NCH it is interesting to see some variations to accounting software. Some quite simple and almost straight forward while some unfortunately are confusing where FAQ and Manuals do not offer any pathway to resolve situations. One I am interested in is being able to create default or template invoices but the application automatically allocates it own numbering which if you have numerous customers with different invoicing needs you have to find or guess what default/template can is recorded.

The obviously does not appear to be any means by which default invoices can be either titled or edited so that the desired invoice can be quickly triggered when creating a new invoice that suits the customer & common items offered or selected for sale for the relevant category customers.

Is there something we are missing or is there a hidden edit feature to allow us to a default/template.

You can set up most defaults in Express Invoice under the Preferences menu, especially for numbering, tax rules, and templates, but some fields stay manual no matter what. I ended up building a small helper tool to automate the bits EI wouldn’t remember, using https://redeagle.tech/services/bespoke-software-development, and it plugged into my workflow without fighting the software.
