Could not locate files

I migrated from an old computer to a new one. I named the disks on the new PC the same way as they were named on the old one. I copied the folders with the source files to the new computer so that their paths and file names are exactly the same as they were on the old PC. However, when trying to open a project, Videopad reports for all files " ... could not locate the following files". What should I do to be able to open the old projects on the new PC without having to resolve all the files one by one?

Things to try...

Place the project's VPJ file in the same folder as the source files, then close VP and launch it with that VPJ.

Or, resolve a single file and note the path where the file is located. Close VP.

Copy all source files, including the VPJ, to the folder pointed to by that path. Create it if necessary.

If neither of these measures succeeds, please zip all files in that single folder, including the VPJ, and share it...

Upload the zipped folder to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share or Copy. Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, click SHARE | SHARE and change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.**

The option "Place the project's VPJ file ..." works. I add to it the following instruction:

Then you can "Save as" the VPJ file to its original location.

But what if the source files are located in more folders?

When the project is loaded and the VPJ is saved AS, it will update, pointing to the current folder locations.

Once the project is fully loaded, clicking Menu | FILE | SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS will copy all files and the VPJ to a single folder, if desired.

Clicking the VPJ in that folder will load the project.

The problem is in the assumption "Once the project is fully loaded". How can I fully load the project if the source files are located in more folders? Without resolving the files one by one, of course.

When resolving the files, is it really necessary to do it one by one? Isn't there a "batch" solution for all files in the folder?

There's no batch solution for this. When a project is saved, the VPJ control file is updated to find the sources, wherever they may reside.

If the methods above don't do the job follow the last suggestion and upload a zipped folder containing all source material + the VPJ.

Here is the solution for the case with source files in more folders:

Create a new folder.
Move all source files in it.
Copy VPJ project in this new folder.
Run the VPJ project from this new location.
Save the VPJ project.
Move the VPJ project elsewhere (if you prefer not to mix it with the source files).
