blee42 Trying to capture from Camcorder via USB adaptor. Videopad recognises the device, but only shows video from the on board webcam. Help says chose it from the Capture Video pull down, which doesn't exist. Any help much appreciated.
borate Suggestions from AI, which isn't always 100% accurate... "Troubleshooting Steps Check Device and Connections: Ensure the camcorder is powered on and set to Play (not Record), then reconnect the USB adaptor. Use a USB 3.0 port for best compatibility and detection. Drivers and Compatibility: Sometimes, capture devices require specific drivers to function properly. Check that the drivers for the USB adaptor are installed and up-to-date. Software Menu Location: In Videopad, use File → Record → Capture Video… or the Home toolbar Record button to access the video capture dialog—this is where the correct device should be selectable from a pull-down menu labeled "Capture From". Deactivate/Reactivate Device: If only the webcam is showing, try deactivating and reactivating devices in the software or unplugging and plugging the USB again. Device Conflicts: Ensure no other application (OBS, Teams, Zoom) is using the camcorder or USB adaptor at the same time, as this will prevent Videopad from accessing it. Camcorder Type: If using a DV tape camera, know that most require Firewire, not USB, for video transfer. USB on some camcorders is only for photos/download, not live video capture. Menu Not Visible If the "Capture Video" dialog doesn’t show the correct pull-down menus: Restart Videopad and reconnect the camcorder. Try the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I to open the video capture dialog."
