How do I load video into the second video track?

Primary video and audio are loaded and edited into the project. Sections of the video have been erased, as needed, and are now ready to receive clips from the B roll video. Video track 1 Audio is not to be modified and the original video it to remain in sync with its audio. Audio from the B roll will not be used.

I would like to line up the two video tracks and be able to copy segments relative to the size of the blanked sections in Video1 track. I can create a second video track but fail to see how to load the B roll into it. Drag and drop does something but it makes no sense as video track 1 seems to disappear.

Maybe there a better way to do this.
Thoughts appreciated.

Track one is likely still there. Scroll to it. Or go to the three-lined menu (top-left) and click VIEW | Restore Default Layout. At least two tracks should be visible. Or vertically expand the video tracks' timeline area by dragging upwards the horizontal bar that separates the timeline from the preview window.

It's unnecessary to delete (leave gaps) in track one, and individual clip audio can be muted if necessary. Just place B-roll clips on track two. Mute its audio track if needed.

Higher tracks override lower. An alternative to dragging is to right-click a clip bin clip and choose one of the Place On Sequence options, such as Overlay At Cursor Position.

I am making progress but at the expense of it forcing me to use my microsoft vocabulary.

Somehow I now have three video tracks and the more I try to get rid of the third one, it keeps getting larger and taking up more screen space. How do I get rid of that?

Now I see a circle of dots suggesting I can rotate the image. How did that get there?

Ok, I created a first edited music video. Now I see the effect of that dotted line circle. It gave all my edits a tilt. How do I get rid of that "feature"?

To delete a track, right-click at the left, the Delete Track...

Bring up the effect used for the circle, then click the white X to the right of its name to delete it.. .

To delete an effect on multiple clips, select them all on the timeline, click the effect icon on any clip, alter the clip back to its original state - in essence removing the effect.

Then click the green 'chain' button on the toolbar. Finally, click the white X.

Each time you make a major change, Save Project File AS, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, the AS choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. That way you're protected, and shouldn't lose anything.

You can also press <ctrl-Z> to go back, step-by-step. (Same as EDIT | UNDO.)

Yes, I am familiar with most of what you write. This project has netted at least a half dozen or more back ups. I have been programming for over 40 years. (-:

Last night it would not let me delete the track because it is "in the sequence" what ever that means. Deleted the track this morning..

Successful at pulling out the effect. Easier than I thought it would be. I just wonder how I activated it in the first place.
