Mixpad blowing up project files

Hi there,

I do use Mixpad quiet regular to cut and merge some audio recordings for a Podcast (V 12.45).

None of the audio clip files are longer than 30min and most of them range around 15-20min (20-50MB per file).

The Mixpad project consist of 3-4 audio files with flac encoding.

Most of the time it works perfectly fine and I make it to the full post processed files with a .MPDP project file of a few kb (less than 1MB).

But sometimes it seems to screw up the file and suddenly the .MPDP becomes 15-30MB in size and each action I do (cut, join, silence, merge....) suddenly takes 5-10 seconds to finish.

Once this happens I did not find any way to recover that Project and the only way around this is to discard the project file and start a new one.

Did anyone experience something similar before and any ideas how I could recover my work instead of starting anew?

Save AS routinely. Then an earlier MPDP file can be restored, in case of corruption.

Go to File → Save As
This creates a fresh .mpdp project file and associated .ProjectData folder.

Choose location/filename
Select a directory and name for the new project copy. MixPad automatically generates a companion folder (e.g., YourProject.ProjectData) containing all audio assets.
Preserve project integrity
The .mpdp file references audio clips stored in its dedicated .ProjectData folder. Always keep both together when transferring projects.

So I guess there is no recovering, once a MPDP file gets "corrupted" 🙁

And I don't know if producing regular copy of project files by creating Save As instances and just naming them with incrementing names is really a way I expect this application to work.

And just as a side note, once they are corrupted, they increase in size rather quick and can exceed 60-70MB in a few minutes.

Another issue is, that the Save does never fail, just takes longer it is a hot guessing game to find out how far I have to get back to find a working copy. Even that working copy might already be corrupted and take between 2-5 additional Save actions until I realize that it is breaking apart.

There shouldn't be an issue in the first place, but Save AS is a good protective measure.

Install the latest and see if that helps. For one-time licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, MP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If there's an issue, you can always revert.
