I am curious, if I use other tools I generally get the exact same size output file as the total of the files being joined. Which is a good indicator that there was no conversion and a straight merge.
However, more often than not, when using Video pad and selecting the lossless export the sizes are different. Point in case is the below:
2025-04-27 07:41 AM 511,861,414 1.mp4
2025-04-27 07:41 AM 590,320,301 2.mp4
2025-04-27 07:41 AM 576,727,252 3.mp4
2025-04-27 07:41 AM 576,331,227 4.mp4
2025-04-28 09:40 AM 1,633,292,790 Untitled.mp4
5 File(s) 3,888,532,984 bytes
2 Dir(s) 23,873,857,556,480 bytes free
if this was truly a "lossless" conversion (and the output file does look the appear to be merged and viewable) why is the output file 1.52GB and the input files 2.09GB?
Looks to me like the lossless export just lost 25% of the data.
Can someone explain please? I don't get this behavior with any other conversion applications. Just VideoPad.
