Questions about upgrading VideoPad from version 8.97 to 17.09 (Windows)

I have emailed NCH sales and technical support and am not getting answers to my questions below.

I purchased VideoPad Masters Edition version 8.97 on 11/20/2020.

I have created many videos with it. I'm currently editing a 14 minute video on my Dell XPS-8900 PC running Windows 10.

I want to upgrade to the latest version of VideoPad 17.07.

Will that version run on my PC? Specs are: Windows 10 Professional, 64 bit, 48 GB RAM, Intel i7-6700 CPU, graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
Will I be able to load completed projects created with VideoPad 8.97?
Will I be able to load the current video project created with VideoPad 8.97 and continue editing it with no problems?
Is there an option to buy the upgrade once instead of by subscription?

Version 17.09 should run projects that were created with 8.97.

Download, install and test it as a trial. Purchase if satisfied.

Thanks, borate. Can versions of VideoPad run side by side, or if I install version 17.09 will that replace version 8.97? If the new version will replace the old version, if I have problems with the new version and want to revert to the old version, how would I do that?

Only one at a time, and no need to uninstall. Just install the latest, which will replace the existing version.

If you want to revert, reinstall 8.97 and ignore upgrade prompts, if any.

Here's 8.97, in case you no longer have the install file. Ignore any virus warnings.

Thanks again, borate. Can you point me to a URL that lists the minimum required computer specs to run VideoPad version 17.09?

That said, video editing is resource intensive. For complex, very hi-def, lengthy projects a gaming-class PC is often recommended.

Your specs should do well, but for the low-end video card. The midrange RTX 3030 is worth considering.

I downloaded and installed 17.09, then loaded the project I've been working on in version 8.97. Everything seems fine. However, 17.09 says it's a beta version. I'd rather not use a beta version. What's the last stable production version?

"Beta" labeling often sticks around in the stable production version ... which that is.

Issues do crop up occasionally, so updates are possible. That case would normally prompt a new release #.

If you make a one-time purchase there is a six-month free upgrade period. But there's no mandate to do that if your version is working well for you. It won't expire.
