To add a new bin, click the + sign to the right of the default tabs.
To add text to a colored blank, drop the blank clip onto the timeline. Then click the ADD TEXT button that is shown on the HOME tab toolbar.
Choose the Simple Text Overlay...
That will create a clip in the bin (top-left). It is usually automatically placed on the next higher track on the timeline, at the cursor position. Drag the clip left or right. This 'overlay' track will be superimposed over the colored blank. Be sure to specify a contrasting text color.
First select (highlight) the text. Then make your choices of size, color, font, shadow, outline, etc.
In addition to the positioning buttons in the text composer box, text can be moved by double-clicking the text clip, then placing the mouse pointer in the preview window ... and dragging the window.
Study the tutorials and others that can be found through a Net search. The learning curve gets easier...
As you construct the project, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, the AS choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. That way you're protected, and shouldn't lose anything.
